Aspen Blog Hop

Welcome to Club Scrap's December Blog Hop! So glad you stopped by. If you jumped into the middle of the blog hop, make sure you stop at Club Scrap Creates to get the whole list of bloggers. You won't want to miss any of the great projects using this month's kit Aspen.

I wasn't really sure what I was going to do this month with the kit. It really speaks cards to me. When I found that Silhouette had a sale on their Cameo die cutting machine earlier this month I couldn't pass it up. So instead of making cards I played around with the papers from Aspen on my new Cameo. So much fun!

I'm sorry I didn't get pictures of the first part of this process. I discovered some important things after I cut out my verse... such as make sure you put adhesive on the back of the paper before cutting. Gluing small pieces is not fun.

So, first I decided which colors for which parts of the verse I wanted to use. I used the light blue and dark green for this part. The background paper is the lightly patterned white paper. On the background paper I printed in light grey the whole verse so that I knew where to adhere it. I then cut the verse out in sections from the colored paper.

After it was cut out it only a matter of gluing the pieces down. I then matted it on the dark green paper and then on the cream color paper. I mounted the whole thing on black foam board.

To finish it off I cut 1/4-inch strips from the leaf patterned paper, mitered the corners and glued them down on the edges.

Out of the same sheet of leaf paper I cut out a few leaves to place on the edges. I didn't put any kind of a hanger on this since I wanted to be able to prop it up on a shelf.
Thanks for looking! Your next stop on your way is Shona's blog!
